Businesses and malicious actors are in a never-ending arms race. The increasing complexity of the enterprise infrastructure stack has created a multitude of new threat vectors, and the advent of generative AI has enabled malicious actors to operate far more effectively. This increase in malicious activity can have devastating financial impacts – for example, the 2023 MGM Grand cyberattack cost the company $100M just to restore its systems! While large enterprises have the resources to withstand these attacks and are served by an established selection of vendors that prevent these types of malicious activity, SMBs have been forgotten. Until now.
Enter Huntress – the cybersecurity platform securing the 99%. Huntress has quickly become the leader in endpoint security (EDR), managed detection and response for Microsoft 365 environments (MDR for M365), and security awareness training (SAT) for the 99% of SMBs who have been perpetually underserved. Utilizing frameworks developed at the US National Security Agency (NSA), Kyle Hanslovan (CEO) and Chris Bisnett (CTO) have built an EDR agent that is less resource-intensive, more effective at detecting malicious activity, fewer false positives, and more economical than existing solutions. And Huntress’s 24x7 Security Operations Center (SOC) provides customers additional peace of mind and prescriptive remediation solutions when, inevitably, there is a security breach.
Through our many conversations with SMBs and the Managed Service Providers (MSPs) who serve them, it became clear that Huntress offers not only the market-leading security platform but also has their customers’ best interests at heart. When the Kaseya VSA Supply Chain Attack crippled the operations of MSPs in 2021, Kyle and team established a “war room” where they actively investigated the incident, provided frequent updates to the MSP community, and proactively protected their customers’ systems who also used Kaseya VSA. Until now, we have never heard a CEO referred to as “the Robin Hood of our industry,” but it is clear why multiple MSP owners we spoke to hold Kyle in this regard.
We could not be more excited about the path forward for Huntress. Over the last handful of quarters, Huntress has transformed itself from a single-product, managed EDR company to a complete security platform. They now offer three products – EDR, MDR for M365, and SAT – all within a single pane of glass. The opportunity to continue to innovate on new and existing products is virtually endless. We are excited for the launch of the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) product in the coming quarters, which we believe represents the next foundational component of the SMB security stack as it is a prerequisite to fulfill cybersecurity insurance requirements while enabling businesses to adhere to rapidly evolving security frameworks. And so much more to come…
Meritech is thrilled to announce our partnership with Huntress and support for their mission of securing the 99% of businesses that power our economy. The opportunity ahead for Huntress is enormous, and this $150M cash infusion will enable the company to continue to innovate at a faster pace than ever before and enable their customers to operate successfully in a threat environment that will only continue to increase in complexity and severity.
